The 2016 is a blend of 74% merlot, 19% cabernet franc, and 7% malbec, from 35 year old vines.
Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, spice, and a whiff of cool, minty herbs open the show, followed by a voluptuous palate of blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant. The texture is silky yet structured, with pliable tannins, bright acidity, and delicate nuances of cut herbs, lavender, licorice, and spice. An elegant mineral backbone leads into a persistent finish. This is drinking beautifully now, but has exceptional aging potential as well.
