In 2022, the esteemed magazine Wine&Spirits included them in the list of the world's top 100 wineries. Indeed, when things are done with passion and love, nothing can go wrong.

Several years have passed since Pepe Raventós embarked on Can Sumoi, a new venture in the heart of the Penedès mountains, where he set out to restore a neglected 20-hectare vineyard at 600 metres above sea level. The estate, dating back to 1645, boasted vines over 50 years old that have now been fully restored, cultivating native varieties perfectly suited to the environment. As Pepe Raventós asserts: “You must adapt to the local essence of a place […] You must observe what is here to be more faithful to the land.” The garnatxa blanca is one such variety, from which Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca is born.

Two plots of this variety inspired this wine. On one hand, the Vinya Gran, located in Pla de Manlleu. On the other, the vineyard La Galzeranna, in Querol, at an altitude of about 700 metres, north of Montmell (cultivated by Anna Llena and her family). Both estates feature coppery, ochre, and brown soils, with sediments formed millions of years ago during the Cretaceous. Regarding viticulture, all vineyards are entirely organic, employing natural fertilisers, manual labour, bush pruning, and infusions to control pests (avoiding other compounds based on copper and sulphur). In all these tasks, the expertise of seasoned farmers is invaluable.

The harvest of Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca is performed manually. The grape clusters are transported in 2,500 kg trailers to the winery, where they are destemmed and gently pressed in an inert atmosphere (it should be noted that Can Sumoi uses no sulphites or preservatives), resulting in a clean and high-quality must. Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca is then transferred to stainless steel tanks to commence fermentation, using indigenous yeasts, which will last for 27 days; however, despite being a young wine, the production of Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca does not end here, as it will also undergo malolactic fermentation (naturally).

Among the finest in the world. The crème de la crème. Savour Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca. One of the best young white wines you can encounter.
