Five from 2025 ~ Special Selections from Wine Spectator's TOP 100
Wine Spectator's team tastes thousands of wines annually in blind sessions, meaning the tasters evaluate wines without knowing the producer, price, or label to reduce bias and focus on sensory quality alone. Their annual TOP 100 list - drawn from thousands of wines that scored 90 points or higher - highlights bottles that excel not just in score but also in quality, value, availability and "X-factor", giving readers a curated snapshot of the years most compelling wines. "X-factor" refers to the extra element of excitement or significance that makes certain wines stand out beyond just their numbers (score, price, availability). It's about the story, energy, relevance, or broader impact of a wine - for example a rising-star producer, a benchmark for a region, or a milestone vintage or trend that engages editors and wine lovers alike.
