Wine Store Sales Associate

We are looking for a result-driven retail Sales Associate to be responsible for all sales job duties, from generating leads to closing sales. Sales Associate duties and responsibilities include working closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about our products and recommend the right solutions. You should be able to promptly resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a Sales associate, you should stay up-to-date with product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance in high standards. Ultimately, the duties of a sales associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance in their wine selection process.
• Respond to customer inquiries (face to face or through ecommerce), providing information on different wine varieties.
• Answer incoming phone calls and gather all necessary information from customers to complete order fulfillment.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the wines carried by the shop.
• Complete necessary tasks for opening the store and closing the store based on assigned shifts for each day.
• Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including shelves, displays, kitchen, storage and common areas.
• Receive and inspect incoming wine shipments, ensuring accurate inventory management, verifying vintages and proper storage conditions.
• Enter incoming inventory into the computer system and verify all product, cost and price information is accurate.
• Conduct regular stock checks, restock merchandise, and communicate needs to replenish inventory to the store manager.
• Assist in pricing and labeling wines, adhering to store guidelines.
• Assist in pulling and packing orders for shipment, ensuring the product is packaged to arrive in perfect condition and in a timely manner.
• Assist customers with gift selections, building and wrapping gift baskets and gift boxes and communicate with the customer when the gift is ready to pick up or ship.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable alcohol-related laws, regulations, and age verification procedures.
• Follow proper procedures for handling cash, processing payments, and maintaining financial records.
• Adhere to safety and security protocols to protect customers, employees, and the store's assets.
• Actively participate in, and promote, an environment which embraces diversity, inclusion and respect for all staff, customers, vendors and the community.
• Other duties are assigned depending on workload and time of the year.

Skills

• Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Sales representative or similar role
• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
• Knowledge of wine is a plus.
