CloseCHÂTEAU LAUBARIT "between two seas" Located in Saint Pierre de Bat, 45 kilometers south of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Entre Deux Mers Haut-Benauge. This property has been in the Dumas and Simonneau families since 1780. In 1965, Pierre-Abel and Nicole Simonneau took over the estate and eventually handed off the reins to their son, Florent, and their daughter-in-law, Isabelle. Their vinyeards in the Entre-Deux-Mers Haut- Benauge region of Bordeaux have been certified organic by Ecocert since 1965 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2002. The terroir here is thick, broken layers of limestone and clay, and has iron-rich topsoil loess, perfect for growing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes as well as white grapes such as Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.
Isabelle, whose grandparents were farmers, grew up with her hands in the soil. So, when she met Florent, her husband and member of one of the original Bordeaux wine families, naturally she started working the vines with Florent and his father. She then got a technical degree in winemaking and wine business, began managing the estate in 1994, and today is running Château Laubarit, one of the cleanest and greenest estates in all of Bordeaux
WHY WE LIKE IT - This Demeter certified biodynamic Bordeaux blanc hails from Entre-Deux-Mers and is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle.
