Desert Wind Ruah Wahluke Slope Columbia Valley Washington
Columbia Valley, WA- The wine is intensely aromatic, with Bing cherry, red currant, and toasted walnut in the forefront. On the palate, flavors of cherry, raspberry, and clove mingle harmoniously with supple tannins ending in a long finish. Pair with barbeque or roasted meats. Enjoy now or cellar 5-8 years.

Red Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc.

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Yakima River in Prosser wine country, Desert Wind is a destination winery & event center featuring spacious accommodations, estate wines, lunch & appetizers. Our large patio overlooking the Yakima River is the perfect spot for taking in the views with a glass of wine paired with light fare from our kitchen.

The Fries family, winners of 10 career Platinums, left behind one of the Northwest’s top value reds when they sold their Prosser winery and their Washington vineyards in 2020 to Columbia Valley growers Joshua Lawrence and Tom Merkle. It’s a wide-ranging eight-variety blend that’s primarily Merlot (40%) and Syrah (33%), but the roles of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carménère provide some elegance. The sweet nose of blackberry and vanilla bean gathers up notes of cured meat and sarsaparilla  for a smooth and fun wine that’s made beautiful with lingering touches of cassis and pomegranate syrup. Awards: Sunset International (gold), Bellingham Northwest (double gold).
