David O’Reilly and his wife Angelica, who founded Owen Roe in Yakima Valley, have launched a new winery called Rocks of Bawn. According to the winery’s website, “The story behind Rocks of Bawn is rooted in the historical struggle and resilience of the Irish people. Inspired by the popular Irish folk song, Rocks of Bawn pays homage to the determination of those who faced hardship on the rocky west coast of Ireland”.

I’ve always craved White Bordeaux – I love the waxy texture of the wine and the fig flavors from the Semillon that contrasts beautifully with the fragrant Sauvignon Blanc. The blend is lively and delicious with enough flavor to enjoy with an entire swordfish if you’re so inclined!

Although given the name and it’s association with back breaking labor with a couple of loyal steeds – the wine will also be perfect by itself after a long soothing shower!

Enjoy now but don’t be afraid to buy a bunch of it to squirrel away for those long winter days!
