The 2022 was fermented mostly in stainless steel, with a small portion in concrete, and spent about 19 days on the skins. It was then aged 17 to 18 months in French oak barrels, half of them new. The finished wine shows black cherry, cassis and cedar, followed by ripe plum, dark chocolate and vanilla, with well-integrated tannins.
Bella Union is made in a blending style from Napa Valley fruit, with its home in Rutherford. The Rutherford bench gives the wine red fruit and its well-known cocoa-dusted character.
