Winemaking: Estate Martaella Vineyard Pinot from Benovia's home vineyard in front of the winery. Aged about 15 months in French oak (about 60% new, 40% one-year). Crafted by winemaker Mike Sullivan.
Vineyards and terroir: Martaella is Benovia's estate vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley (Laguna de Santa Rosa / Santa Rosa Plain area), planted primarily to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a knoll cooled by Pacific fog. Clay loam with volcanic and sedimentary influence.
Family and history: Benovia was founded by Mary Dewane and Joe Anderson; winemaker and co-owner Mike Sullivan leads the cellar. Martaella sits directly in front of the Hartman Road winery — a flagship estate Pinot for the house.
