Food pairings: Roast pork, pheasant, veal, wild mushroom dishes and herb-roasted chicken.
Winemaking: Vineyard lots were harvested overnight, fermented separately, then blended in July 2023 and returned to barrel. Aged 17 months in French oak, 40% new and 60% neutral. Winemaker Stephanie Jacobs.
Vineyards and terroir: Fruit from across Napa Valley, including Suscol Springs Ranch in the cool southeastern reaches and a warm valley-floor vineyard in Rutherford, giving both ripeness and freshness.
Family and history: Cakebread Cellars was founded in Rutherford by Jack and Dolores Cakebread and remains a family-owned Napa winery known for Cabernet, Chardonnay and Merlot from estate and partner vineyards.
