Winemaking: God Only Knows is Cayuse’s Grenache-dominant wine from the Armada Vineyard. Aged about 21 months in neutral French oak so the site and fruit lead. Farmed with biodynamic methods.
Vineyards and terroir: Armada Vineyard in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater (Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley), planted in 2001 at then-record density for the region. Silty loam and basalt cobblestones over the ancient Walla Walla River bed; the oldest Grenache block in the valley.
Family and history: Christophe Baron founded Cayuse in the stones of Milton-Freewater, and God Only Knows has become one of America’s benchmark Grenaches.
