Owned by the iconic winemaker, Laurence Féraud, Château Pegau is an exceptional terroir in Côtes du Rhône situated less than 4 miles southeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Loaded with classic Côtes du Rhône fruit and spice, the wines retain the hallmark stamp and identity of Pegau. “Maclura” is a type of Osage Orange tree (also known by the name Hedge Apple). This red cuvée is name after the Osage Orange trees that grow within the vineyard.

The story of Château Pegau begins with the Féraud family, who have grown vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1670. Paul Féraud (pictured above) spent the early part of his career farming 17 acres, selling most of his wine to négociants while bottling a small portion as Cuvée Réservée. In 1987, his daughter Laurence joined him and helped establish Domaine du Pegau, quickly transforming the estate into a highly regarded, fully estate-bottled producer. Over time, the family expanded its Châteauneuf-du-Pape holdings to more than 42 acres.

In 2012, Laurence expanded the family’s vision with the purchase of Domaine de la Jouve, a 148-acre property near the Rhône River, which she renamed Château Pegau. Its vineyards produce Cuvée Maclura Côtes du Rhône, Cuvée Setier Côtes du Rhône Villages, and Cuvée Lône Blanc. While distinct from the family’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, Château Pegau follows similarly rigorous standards, including remarkably low vineyard yields. The result is a collection of Rhône wines offering impressive concentration, character, and value.
