Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Roast duck, salmon with herbs, mushroom risotto, roasted chicken, and soft cheeses.
Winemaking: Estate Keefer Ranch fruit (Swan and Calera clones) was carefully selected and aged 16 months in French oak, 21% new and 26% once-used (coopers including Damy, François Frères, Vicard G7 and Orion).
Vineyards and terroir: Keefer Ranch sits along Green Valley Creek in the Russian River Valley on gently sloping, south-facing Goldridge loam. The cool site favors long hang time, deep color, extraction and balanced tannins. The Davies family purchased the vineyard in 2018 after sourcing grapes for Schramsberg sparkling since 1998.
Family and history: Second-generation vintner Hugh Davies, with winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga and J.P. Pierce, carries forward the Davies family's Pinot Noir story that began in 1967 with Schramsberg's first Blanc de Noirs. Davies Vineyards is the family's still-wine label alongside Schramsberg in Calistoga.
