Winemaking: Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 is a vintage-only Champagne drawn solely from the 2018 harvest, assembled under Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon. After secondary fermentation in bottle it matured on its lees in the cellars for about eight years before release. The Damien Hirst Limited Edition presents this same Vintage 2018 cuvée in a deep-blue Kaleidoscope reinterpretation of the Dom Pérignon shield, with a matching gift box, for the 2026 festive season.
Vineyards and terroir: 2018 in Champagne brought exceptional sunshine—about 25% more light than average in spring—and a dry, warm summer after winter and spring rains left water in the soils. Harvest began around 20 August, among the earliest on record, with healthy, highly ripe Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Dom Pérignon draws on classic Champagne villages for each grape; for this vintage, Chouilly is often cited for Chardonnay and Verzenay and Aÿ for Pinot Noir.
Family and history: Named for Dom Pierre Pérignon, the Benedictine cellarer of the Abbey of Hautvillers from 1668 to 1715, the house makes only vintage Champagne from a single harvest. Moët & Chandon acquired the name in 1927; the first commercial vintage was 1921, released in 1936. The maison owns the cloister and historic vineyards associated with the Abbey of Hautvillers. The 2026 Damien Hirst collaboration continues Dom Pérignon’s line of artist editions, reimagining the historic shield through Hirst’s Kaleidoscope series in deep blue for Vintage 2018 (a separate warm-pink design accompanies Rosé Vintage 2010).
