100% Pinot Noir

The Ferrandiere estate is located between Corbières and Minervois, 12 miles from Carcassone and 25 miles from the Mediterranean. It lies within the Minervois Appellation without officially being part of it. The site was a wetland drained under Louis XIV in the late 17th century. Managed by the Gau family for 100 years, it has been owned by Jean-Claude Mas of Domaine Paul Mas since 2013.

The vineyard sits atop the Etang de Marseillette, a saltwater lagoon formed 2.5 million years ago. To control soil salinity, the vineyard is flooded twice yearly, in winter and spring. This flooding, along with a drainage tunnel system, allows grape growing and protects the vines from the Phylloxera aphid, enabling own-rooted vines.
