Sweet berries, spice and licorice lead to a medium- to full-bodied, velvety and polished palate. A pure, high-altitude Mercurey from one of the leading growers of the Côte Chalonnaise.
Available in store
Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Roast duck, grilled lamb, mushroom risotto, coq au vin and soft-rind cheeses.
Winemaking: Fermented with indigenous yeasts after a cold maceration in old wooden upright vats, the wine ages for 12 months in barrel, a third of it new, followed by six months in tank, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Vineyards and terroir: The fruit comes from a single parcel in the lieu-dit Les Doués, high up at the top of Mercurey, facing east. Vincent Dureuil replanted it with higher-quality vine selections.
Family and history: Based in Rully at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, the domaine is run by Vincent Dureuil, who took over from his father Raymond in 1994 at the age of 24 and has farmed organically ever since. William Kelley of the Wine Advocate has called it the finest winery in the Côte Chalonnaise.
