"Modern style St. Jo, featuring ripe plum, licorice and fig cake enrobed with flattering brush of toasted cedar oak. Streaming and rich with impressive intensity, this will have many fans. Focused with tangy precision on the very persistent finish, marked by smoldering graphite, chewy chocolate, violet and spice. Drink now through 2040." -Wine Spectator

The more you learn about the Guigal family, the more astounding becomes their story. Their wines are the benchmarks for every Rhône appellation, and over the last thirty years they have become arguably the most lauded producer in the world. Year after year the Guigal family produces wines of exceptional quality that in all classes offer exceptional value.

Guigal’s Vignes de l’Hospice is one of the finest sites in the Northern Rhone Valley. Guigal now owns the majority of this steeply terraced vineyard. Guigal is often asked when they will produce a fourth “LaLa,” and their response is that their fourth single vineyard phenomenon of the Northern Rhone is already being produced: the Vignes de l’Hospice.

VINEYARD

This 100% Syrah wine is sourced from an extremely steep vineyard planted in granite originating from a similar geologic formation as the famed Bessards slopes of Hermitage across the river. The vines average between 20-80 years old. Since acquiring the land, the Guigals have worked tirelessly to preserve the walls of the vineyard and to carry on the history and tradition of this land as a beacon of quality.
