"The 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Soccorso comes from a single vineyard at over 500 meters elevation that was planted on sandy and clay-based soils with albarello-trellised vines 25 years ago. In the glass, it pours a dark ruby/red color and opens on the nose with more aromas of candied cherries, lavender, mossy earth, and sappy herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it is compact and brooding, with ripe tannins and a grounding, mineral-rich texture. It requires a bit more patience, but it has a lot of character and should improve over time. Drink 2026-2046." Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Soccorso is darkly seductive with a rich blend of crushed plums, cedar shavings and cocoa lifted by mentholated herbs. This is round and supple with masses of ripe wild berry fruit and inner violet florals energized by brisk acidity. A wall of grippy tannins emerges through the finale, balanced by a staining of primary concentration as the Vigna Soccorso finishes structured and long. Patience will be required before this gentle giant shows its best." Vinous

Nothing short of legendary is Enzo Tiezzi and his efforts within Montalcino.  At the young age of nineteen in 1958 (now in his eighties) Enzo began working with his hometown grape Sangiovese.  He cut his chops at well-known producers on the Southwest slope like Poggio alle Mura in the 60s, Col d’ Orcia in the 70s and Argiano in the 80s.  Today wine critics taste old vintages from these producers when Enzo was at the helm and recognize a different hand steering the ship.  Known for guiding Brunello to its most soulful expression, Enzo is a naturalist and his wines evoke a deep sense of place and varietal typicity.  Some of the ethos he’s employed for decades consist of organic growing practices, native yeast fermentations in barrels and aging in Slavonian oak.  The wines are unfiltered and sulfur additions have always been slim to none.
