Energetic and bright, with Meyer lemon, just-ripe mandarin and a fine mist of green citrus oil, then savory preserved lemon and a hint of spice on a pure, finely woven palate, lifted by briny sea-spray minerality into a long, vibrant finish.

Winemaking: The grapes were picked between September 11 and October 4, 2024, and fermented with 100% native yeast, 80% in 288-liter barrels and 20% in stainless steel tank. The wine aged in 228-liter French oak barrels from the Damy and Billon cooperages, 18% of them new, and went through native malolactic fermentation before bottling in August 2025. The result balances mouthwatering acidity with fresh citrus and an elegant, finely woven texture.

Vineyards and terroir: The wine comes from Flowers' organically farmed estate vineyard, Camp Meeting Ridge, and from several family-owned vineyards that share Flowers' farming philosophy, among them Ross Ridge Vineyard, Wildcat Mountain Vineyard and Bohan Ranch. Flowers' estates sit on steep, forested ridgelines of the far Sonoma Coast, about two miles from the Pacific. Above the fog line, cool sea breezes, intense sunlight and well-drained rocky soils give fresh, vibrant Chardonnay true to its coastal origins. In 2024, good rainfall kept the soils moist through early spring, and budbreak arrived just as the weather turned favorable. The summer brought steady growth and a strong, balanced crop, then ample mid-season heat compressed ripening into a swift, month-long harvest, giving fresh acidity, savory citrus and lifted minerality.

Family and history: In 1991, against prevailing advice, Walt and Joan Flowers planted vines on a steep ridgeline just two miles from the Pacific Ocean. They believed that elevation, ocean influence and the surrounding wilderness could give wines of uncommon purity. That vineyard, Camp Meeting Ridge, became their flagship estate and made Flowers one of the pioneers of the "far" Sonoma Coast, north of the town of Jenner. Sea View Ridge, even closer to the water, followed in 1998. The estates are farmed organically, with CCOF certification since 2021. Longtime winemaker Chantal Forthun aims to let the vineyards lead. Today Flowers is part of Huneeus Wines and welcomes guests at House of Flowers in Healdsburg.
