Close1005 Marselan
The Marselan grape (pictured above), a black variety bred in 1961 by the INRA of Marselan through a cross of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, is renowned for its small berries and low juice yields. It yields wines of remarkable complexity, intense color, and enticing aromas, ranging from cocoa and smoke to spices, blackcurrant, raspberry, redcurrant, blackberry, jammy fruits, black olives, prunes, and liquorice, characterized by soft, harmonious tannins, ample body, length, and excellent ageing potential.
Food pairings: Grilled lamb with herbs de Provence, beef tagine with prunes, duck breast with honey or a selection of sheep's cheeses.
