Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Roast chicken, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, pork loin, and soft cheeses.
Winemaking: Fermented in stainless steel with 41% whole cluster, then aged about seven months in French oak (11% new). Certified organic fruit from like-minded Sonoma Coast growers; bottled April 2023.
Vineyards and terroir: Sebella is Hanzell's younger-vine / négociant-style Pinot—sourced from partner growers along the Sonoma Coast and made to mirror the fruit complexity and structure of the estate wines in a more approachable key. Distinct from Hanzell Estate / Heritage Pinot Noir.
Family and history: Ambassador James D. Zellerbach founded Hanzell in 1953, naming it for his wife Hana and modeling the estate on Burgundy. The de Brye family has owned the Moon Mountain property overlooking Sonoma Valley since 1975; Hanzell pioneered temperature-controlled stainless fermentation and small French oak barrels in California.
