Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Roasted meats, charcuterie and cheeses.
Winemaking: The 2024 release specifies 18 months in oak barrels, one-third new, with malolactic fermentation. The house’s general description notes vat fermentation before transfer to barrel.
Vineyards and terroir: Le Vaucrain is in Comblanchien in the Côte de Nuits. Stony soils reflect an ancient quarry above the slope, and the site is used by Jadot for rootstock research aimed at adapting to climate change.
Family and history: Founded in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot brings together estate vineyards and a long tradition of working with Burgundy’s growers. Frédéric Barnier leads the winemaking team, with an emphasis on the character of each individual terroir and a restrained use of oak.
