Unoaked, steel-fermented Chardonnay with fresh aromas of white flowers and apple blossom, citrus and stone fruit. The palate is savory and lively, with bright acidity and a refreshing wet-pebble minerality that keeps it crisp, pure and easy to drink.

Food pairings: Spanish tapas, seafood and shellfish, and other lighter dishes. Serve well chilled, around 46-48°F.
Winemaking: Acero is the Spanish word for steel, and this Chardonnay never sees any oak. The grapes, especially selected for fruit intensity and aromatics, were harvested on September 1-2, gently whole-cluster pressed and cold fermented in stainless steel tanks at 55°F to capture the purity of their flavors. The wine then rested in stainless steel until bottling in early spring. The 2023 blend is 88% See clone and 12% Spring Mountain clone.
Vineyards and terroir: The wine is estate grown on the Don Miguel Vineyard, named after the late patriarch of the Torres family, Miguel Torres. It lies in Green Valley, the coolest and foggiest corner of the Russian River Valley in western Sonoma County, only about ten miles from the Pacific. The vines are planted at a high, European-style density, which gives low yields and grapes with better balance, concentration and finesse. The vineyard is farmed by the estate's own crew with no herbicides and no tillage, using cover crops and compost, and it is Certified California Sustainable.
Family and history: The Torres family has grown grapes in Catalonia since the 17th century, and its wine business was founded in 1870. Marimar Torres moved to San Francisco in 1975 to lead the family's export sales to North America, then bought land in West Sonoma County in 1983 and began planting Chardonnay in 1986, naming the vineyard after her father. Her first wine, a barrel-fermented 1989 Chardonnay, was released in 1991, the winery was inaugurated in 1993, and the Doña Margarita Pinot Noir vineyard followed in 2002. The estate has run on 100% solar power since 2015, and Marimar's daughter Cristina, raised among the vines, became General Manager in 2023.
