Food pairings: Grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, braised short ribs, aged Gouda and dishes with dark cocoa or savory herbs.
Winemaking: Fruit from two organically farmed Owen Roe estate properties and Red Willow Vineyard. Harvest ran October 11–27, 2020. The wine cellared 24 months with slightly more than half the barrels in new French oak.
Vineyards and terroir: Yakima Valley fruit, including Red Willow and estate sites, in the larger Columbia Valley. Long hang time in 2020 built ripe tannins with full sun for complete ripening.
Family and history: David and Angelica O'Reilly founded Owen Roe in 1999, naming it for the 17th-century Irish patriot Owen Roe O'Neill. The winery sources from carefully chosen Washington and Oregon vineyards and is known for old-world-leaning Cabernet that ages well.
