Food pairings: Grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, duck breast, wild mushroom pasta and aged Gouda or cheddar.

Vineyards and terroir: Pride Mountain sits atop Spring Mountain on the Napa–Sonoma county line, about 2,000 feet above the valley floor at the historic Summit Ranch. Mountain fruit sees more light and even ripening, giving broad-shouldered tannins and woodland aromatics; the Merlot is labeled Napa County.
Family and history: Founded in 1990 by Jim and Carolyn Pride on a site planted since 1885, with the 1890 Summit Winery ruins still on the property. Today the second generation leads the estate, with Steve Pride as Director of Winegrowing and CEO.
