Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Duck breast, roast chicken, wild mushroom dishes, grilled salmon, and aged soft cheeses.
Winemaking: 100% whole-cluster, natively fermented Pinot Noir from 15.8 acres of coastal vineyards, bottled without fining. Winemaker Melanie McIntyre; proprietors and winegrowers Carlo and Dante Mondavi.
Vineyards and terroir: A selection from RAEN's rugged westerly Sonoma Coast vineyards on Goldridge soils, farmed with organic and regenerative practices. Clones include Calera, Swan, 667, 115 and 777. The cuvée is dedicated to grandfather Robert Mondavi, their greatest philosophical teacher in wine.
Family and history: Brothers Carlo and Dante Mondavi founded RAEN to explore the far Sonoma Coast after generations of Napa Valley winemaking. The name nods to Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally—their ethos of site-first, low-intervention Pinot from coastal ridges.
In the pictures: Carlo Mondavi in the vineyard cover crop (photo provided / Falstaff profile of Carlo Mondavi of RAEN); and the RAEN team in the barrel cellar (courtesy of RAEN Winery).
