Nick and Yolyn Goldschmidt (pictured above) founded Trig Point in 1998 with a vision of crafting handcrafted, small-production, single-vineyard wines that express the unique character of exceptional vineyard sites around the world. After decades as one of the wine industry's most respected "flying winemakers," Nick brought his global experience to his family-owned winery, focusing on site-driven wines of purity and distinction.
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Nick studied horticulture, viticulture, and winemaking before building an extraordinary international career. He held leadership roles with renowned wineries including Simi, Clos du Bois, Gary Farrell, Buena Vista, William Hill, Atlas Peak, Geyser Peak, and Wild Horse, while also consulting for prestigious estates such as Cloudy Bay, Terrazas, and Ruffino. In 2008, he devoted himself full-time to Goldschmidt Vineyards and Trig Point, where he continues to produce artisan wines while consulting for wineries across the globe. His commitment to innovation, biodynamic farming, and expressing the individuality of each vineyard remains at the heart of every bottle.
Diamond Dust Vineyard sits on benchland in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma. Topography protects this vineyard from Pacific winds. A true “trig point” for one of the great uncompromising vineyards of Alexander Valley, growing classical, lush and varietally true Bordeaux varieties.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Jackson clone; alcohol: 14.5%; Diamond Dust vineyard on benchland in Alexander Valley; planted in deep gravelly loam soils; 2023 cool growing season with abundant early season rain; hand harvested; 100% barrel fermented using only indigenous yeasts; aged 18 months in 25% new Taransaud and Boutes French oak barrels.
