Wine Tasting Notes
This beautifully blended Cabernet Sauvignon is exquisitely balanced with excellent fruit concentration. On the nose, this wine offers fresh blackberries, baked berry pie, pencil shavings, toasted brioche, and a touch of licorice. The palate offers youthful, concentrated tannins, red raspberry coulis, dried black cherries, dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, and a touch of cedar with a big finish that lingers. This offering is enjoyable today but will also evolve with cellar aging through 2035.

Whitehall Lane is a small, family owned winery in Napa Valley’s historic Rutherford appellation. We grow 157,411 grape vines in our eight estate vineyards including the Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena. We are dedicated to growing and making the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Estate wines, using Napa Green certified and sustainable practices.
The winery continues to receive accolades and awards for producing exceptional world-class wines. In Wine Spectator Magazine’s year-end ranking of wines, Whitehall Lane has been honored three times for producing wines rated among the top five in the world. The winery was also voted Winery of the Year from Quarterly Review of Wines and Wine and Spirits Magazine. Napa Valley Life Magazine has also rated their tasting room as Best Tasting Room in Napa Valley.
The winery was founded in 1979 but the history of the soil cultivation dates back two centuries. In the mid 1800’s, Napa Valley settlers were drawn to the gravelly loam soils and ideal climate, planting high quality grape vines at the Whitehall Lane Winery site. In 1979, two brothers built the winery and directed their winemaking efforts successfully to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They named the winery after the road that runs along the southern border of the property, Whitehall Lane.
In 1993, the Leonardini Family purchased the Whitehall Lane Winery estate. We updated the winemaking and barrel aging program and introduced a scientific approach in the vineyards. The winery now owns eight prime vineyard properties totaling more than 200 acres that are the cornerstone on which the wines are made. They include two vineyards in the St. Helena Appellation, three vineyards (including the winery) in the Rutherford Appellation, one vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, one in Sonoma Valley and more recently a vineyard in the Petaluma Gap Appellation. All vineyards are farmed utilizing sustainable green practices to produce the finest grapes and all wine is made at the winery in St. Helena.
