Close100% Pinot Noir
Food pairings: Roast chicken, pizza night, salmon, pork dishes, and smoked cheeses; also lovely lightly chilled on a warm day.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested fruit is fermented in small open-top tanks and aged in French oak, 32% new—the same methods Hirsch uses for its estate Pinots. Bottled June 2024.
Vineyards and terroir: A blend of three West Sonoma Coast sites: 43% Hirsch (Fort Ross-Seaview), 22% neighboring Hellenthal (contiguous with Hirsch Block 9), and 35% Charles Heintz Vineyard about 20 miles south. Named for the winding Bohan-Dillon road that ties these coastal canyons together; David Hirsch conceived it as an homage to the village wines of France.
Family and history: Hirsch Vineyards sits on a remote Fort Ross-Seaview ridge David Hirsch bought in 1978; the family now farms biodynamically, with Jasmine Hirsch as winemaker. Bohan-Dillon is their gateway Pinot—made with the same care as the estate wines, at a friendlier price—and the 2023 is the third vintage to include Heintz fruit.
