The wines of Loire Valley, Côtes du Rhône, Cahors, and Left Bank Bordeaux each have distinct characteristics due to their terroir, grape varieties, and winemaking traditions. Begin Saturday’s wine tour in the northwest region of France, the Loire Valley, a cool climate with moderate temperature famous for wines with high acidity, freshness and minerality. Then encircle the Rhone Valley to the southeast, a Mediterranean climate with mistral wind, perfect conditions to create warm, ripe fruit with lower acidity. Enjoy the product of the Cahors region, a Continental climate with warm days and cool nights to produce structured wines. Travel west again into the Left Bank of Bordeaux, a Maritime climate regulated by the Atlantic and the Gironde estuary with gravel soils offering good drainage and ripeness. Come full circle back to the Loire Valley.

Olema looks to celebrate California’s Sonoma through vibrant, flavorful wines of outstanding value. It all began in Sonoma County where a lively Chardonnay, a lush Pinot Noir and a complex Cabernet Sauvignon showcase the breadth of Sonoma flavors. What results is a collection of wines perfect for an evening with friends and loved ones, wines that over-deliver with every sip.
And we cannot speak of Olema without mentioning the pedigree of winemaking talent behind these wines! The wealth of experience from lead winemaker, Tony Biagi, includes Duckhorn, Paraduxx, Plumpjack, Cade and Hourglass. Small-production, single-vineyard wines comprise a large part of his wine portfolio, but it’s his impressive knowledge of fermentation science (with a degree from the University of California at Davis) and keen knack for sensing a wine’s building blocks that he utilizes most in the Olema cellar.

His career in fine wine and fine dining, sparked by his pursuit of the coveted Master Sommelier diploma, spans more than two decades and multiple states. The fire from this pursuit evolved into extensive study, travel, and exploration that has taken him and his love for the grape around the globe.
A Cincinnati native, Keegan has been recognized by several national and international publications including Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator, and has been featured on numerous TV and radio stations for his unique perspective on the world of wine.
